Choosing the Right Paper Weight
The paper weight you choose can have a big impact on the look and feel of your church bulletins. Paper weights can be confusing to understand because there are several different "scales" called Basis Weights. Each Basis Weight has its own range of numbers listed in pounds (lbs.).
For thin paper, there are two Basis Weights: Bond and Text. These weights are often shown listed together. For example, a 20/50 lb. paper, commonly known as copy paper, has a Bond Weight of 20 lbs. and a Text Weight of 50 lbs.
Most churches prefer to print their church bulletins on a paper weight of 24/60 lb., 28/70 lb. or 32/80 lb., which provides a more substantial feel than standard 20/50 lb. copy paper, while still folding easily. Printing Church Bulletins on Office Printers
Most church bulletin paper is designed to work with laser printers, inkjet printers, digital presses and copiers. When selecting a heavier paper weight, it's always a good idea to check your printer's recommended paper specifications. Mid-weight text papers such as 24/60 lb. and 28/70 lb. offer an excellent balance between durability and reliable performance in most office equipment.
Always select the correct media or paper type in your print settings (print setup or preferences). Printers are generally defaulted to the lightest paper setting, so if you are printing heavier than 20-lb. copy paper, you need to select the proper paper weight or texture. This will heat the toner properly so it will not flake off or smear on the paper.
Double-sided printing (duplex printing) can save a significant amount of paper and lessen the amount of sheets handled. Check your printer settings and enable double-sided printing. Most printers have a setting for duplex printing.
Regular maintenance of your printer ensures it operates smoothly and efficiently. preventing downtime and extending its lifespan.
